The original oil painting is one of the art works created specifically to commemotate the 2018 Centenary Poppy appeal. It was exhibited at the Sation Gallery in North Yorkshire, helping to raise funds for the charity.
 
It is estimated that 484,143 British horses, mules, camels, and bullocks died between 1914 and 1918. And many hundreds of dogs, carrier pigeons and other animals also died on various fronts.
